Interesting counterpoint to a comment made by Robert Wynn (a poet friend of mine with an MFA in poetry, I think) once said he believed all poetry had one thing in common – that the poet believes what they wrote. This was a challenge for me to write something that I didn’t believe in!

I have learned that belief is a necessary part of writing poetry but my task is to help the reader to also believe what I am writing; or at least imagine it to be true…:)
