it had become a time of war
a bloody period in his life
innocence burned to ashes
fear carried forth into battles
more mental than physical
emotions began running wild
as doubt overwhelmed reason
bitterness became a way of life
when at last hope turned away
emotional disinhibition took over
nothing was there worth contesting
yet forces were constantly set in motion
thoughts that became more consuming
of his spirit than he could withstand
became a perpetual time of war
