A group from our congregation,
we call our class Traveling Pilgrims,
went to the Anne Frank Exhibit
just North of Atlanta, Georgia
such atrocities those innocents
endured with so much loss of life
If there is one of these exhibits
near the city where you live
do not let this dreadful memory
fade back into those forgotten
pages of a shameful history
begin by reading these sad lines
********************
“First they came for the Communists,
and I did not speak up–
because I was not a Communist
Then they came for the Jews,
and I did not speak up–
because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists
and I did not speak up–
because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Catholics,
and I did not speak up–
because I was a Protestant.
Then the came for me-
and by that time,
Nobody was left to speak up.”
Rev. Martin Niemoeller
A Protestant Pastor who spent seven
years in a concentration camp.
We do need reminders of what ordinary people said in those times. Thank you.

Thank you. I would suggest everyone take a look at this exhibit. I know that is not possible but our schools teach less and less history each year and I”m concerned that my grandchildren may never be taught some of the horrors so many have had to face because of tyrannical governments. I feel that learning these things is the only way we can help prevent them from happening again.

I took a few university writing course papers in 2013,, and was was astounded that neither our young tutor nor the other students- late teens and twenties – knew what i was talking about when I talked about WW II topics I thought were widely knows. It was truly alarming.

I guess it may be due to my getting older but it seems to me that the education system here in the U S is geared toward ‘dumbing down’ our children in order to control our society. I read a lot and I see a tendency, on all facets of governments around the world, to suppress their populations by manipulating the education systems so they will teach only those ideologies that are approved by these governments. I fear that in the not so distant future that we will all be under the auspices of “One World Government” led by the United Nations. That is why I fear so much about the world my grand children will be living.
