What’s in a book that’s closed?
I know it’s full of words
letters printed on paper
yet at the same time something
simply has to be happening
for as soon as it is opened
I find another story with people
I’ll never get to meet elsewhere
there I can share their adventures
march with armies going to battle
feel the sting of countless wounds
taste the bittersweet pang of death
a wondrous joy of returning home
never certain of any welcome
there beyond that final page
